Think you need to drive to New York to find the latest trends in jewelry, handbags and accessories from America’s leading young designers? Save your gas money. BoutiqueToGo is (much) closer to home. This upscale boutique is located in the West End neighborhood of Allentown at 522 N. 19th Street.
Owner Elena Pascal, a native of Allentown, has fond memories of the West End, including many nights spent at the Civic Theatre. The West End epitomizes community, she says, and it is extremely important for her to see this area grow and continue to grow throughout the years. To help, she mentors students from Muhlenberg College and participates in various events about the neighborhood.
“I feel strongly about community. I see the West End, especially the north part of the West End as a little SoHo,” says Pascale. “This part of the neighborhood is very hip and trendy. If this area continues to thrive, it is going to be a wonderful area.”
Growth begins with the small businesses that are already established in the area, Pascal says. The West End already has a bit of everything such as jewelry, salon and day spas, an appliance store, restaurants and more, but there is always room for development, she says. The West End neighborhood has the same goal among its business owners and residents, growth, so with that mindset the West End will soon enough be recognized simply as a wonderful area to reside and visit.
Pascal has high hopes for her neighborhood and the residents of the West End. She hopes to see more events occur, so maybe in the next couple of years there will be a Halloween parade or even a “style week” for the fashion and arts within the West End neighborhood.
