We don’t care what Punxsutawney Phil predicted, It’s cold. If you are tired of this frigid winter weather you may want to check out Anytime Sun Tanning Salon, located on 1727 W. Liberty Street, for a taste of summer.

Owners Pete and Terri Aguilar are William Allen High School sweethearts who established the West End salon in 2004. The building was already a tanning salon, so because Pete and Terri were familiar with the area and tanning, they decided to take over the business. The salon has prospered over the past few years, they say, and continues to grow due to a diverse group of clientele that includes Muhlenberg College students and residents of the neighborhood. Beyond traditional tanning beds, the salon has expanded to include sunless airbrushing services and red light spa therapy, which is UV free.

Allentown’s West End is ideal for small businesses like theirs, the couple says, and they love the charm and old-fashioned quality of the neighborhood. When they’re not working in the area, they’re strolling the town with their children, frequenting the Allentown Fairgrounds, and enjoying their favorite local eatery, Ruffino’s. “The West End is very family-oriented,” says Terri. “This town is the ultimate friendly setting.”

“I hope to see our business grow,” says Terri. “However, West End is already so nice and quaint that I think it is great just the way it is.”
